When I met Cory I was experiencing a lot of suffering that I can only really describe now as depression from disjointedness. It was a disjointedness primarily between my behaviors and engagement with my life being at odds with my core values and knowledge of self. But I didnβt know much of the WHY I felt this suffering at the time and I was spending a lot of time dealing with the symptoms of that than the core sources of that unhappiness.
It was exhibited in how i was operating im my life and noticing my struggles amid major life events including: post-peak pandemic society, my first year of being an out transmasculine non-binary person and starting my gender transition, living in a state that is very anti-trans legislatively, living solo in my post-divorce life and the loss of my stepchild. I suddenly had tons of time alone and I felt rootless and rudderless. I wasnβt abusing them but i was relying on medications, stimulants, cigarettes, or depressants to get through every task in my day. And It felt like my career was crumbling no matter how hard I tried. Even simple things I had even taught to other professionals for years were monumental task.
I knew i was depressed so I went to some talk therapy for a bit but felt I wasnβt making progress. I would just vent and then go back to living the same life. I had had a lot of talk therapy in my 20s that helped a lot but this just was not working the same way it had. So I focused more on myself and pushed to find happiness in old joys like working out, got on a meal plan, tried being social, watching my old favorite shows, shopping, etc. But the things that once brought joy didnβt anymore. Its like I was trying on someone elseβs favorite blue jeans. I was ready to DO more and willing to completely upend my life to get to the root. But it was terrifying to think about the scale of that kind of intentional change after all Iβd experienced. So as a project manager by profession I also wanted something strategically structured that I could remain engaged with throughout the week but that would get me somewhere completely different in the next few months. I wanted and was ready for a big, comprehensive shift in my life. I read books and articles on time management, stoicism, bullet journaling, Buddhism, meditation. Listened to Great podcasts and books by the greats like Tara Baruch, Brene Brown, etc etc etc. and although I gained insight it was not translating to change and I didnβt know why.
I made the decision to make a specific, dedicated investment in myself to work with someone who didnβt just take a call and send me on my way but was willing to be responsive and engaged, call me out and help me hold myself accountable, and who gave me tools right-fit for MEβThings that made sense for the specifics of my life that were the barriers. And could lean into some new modalities Iβd been working on that mo one was talking about in my spheres at the time like plant medicine and holistic practices. Like a personal trainer for my life, top to bottom.
I started looking at life coaching and found Cory through a family member and though I was shopping around with several talented people all offering unique interesting approaches, in our first meeting we just really connected. While equally if not more competent on skills and credentials alongside others that I was interviewing, his energy and vibrant personhood were like a memory of my own love of life that i knew i had been missing and longing for. I felt like this person must be living his message. And as a queer person, I loved that he too put that front-and-center with regards to that being a critical part of someoneβs alignment with their existence. Identity matters greatly and what Iβd lost in my life for who i was was so huge i needed empathy in that space, not just sympathy and secondary experience. I knew from therapy that I preferred someone who didnβt just work with a lot of LGBTQIA+ people but actually identified that way and knew what that kind of existence is like especially after a conservative upbringing and in a world legislatively erasing you in real time. And his empathizing with that part of my life was huge for me especially as I was βchanging lettersβ and finding the nuances of my space in the queer community were changing around me, and I felt like if youβre not OF the community you really wouldnβt understand how hard that can be to articulate. Having someone not just hearing me but responding and even adding nuance to my statements and proofing up the truth of them was invaluable. It allowed me to do things like cry which has been SO hard to do and needed for me to express some of those things.
His exuberance and natural flow with his work, his passion for coaching, and his methodology all spoke to me. But the real thing that lingered for days after our initial call was he gifted me with some gems of positive self talk and micro-habits that I still use today. One of them was changing βI need toβ to βi GET toβ: i accepted that tip and tried it out at first not truly buying in to the idea that it would actually help, but with a couple sticky notes around my place and seeing it, then saying it out-loud, it removed anxiety around my to do list. It didnβt turn into excitement right away but it nudged me toward: βyouβre failing and you are lazy that you havenβt yetβ to βoh thereβs a great feeling of accomplishment on the other side of DOING.β It was like a slow drip that turned into a constant trickle. And now I feel like all things are choices and I can choose what gets done by how much good I want to experience or have the energy to pursue. And not doing is just choosing rest when I need it. Letting people or myself down isnβt a truth I ascribe you anymore. And I GET SO MUCH MORE DONE. By removing a punitive, self-effacing framing of something simple like a To Do list, and making it a menu of healthy choices, I am much more intrinsically motivated and kinder to myself.
And things like that became part of a tiny new voice of uplift in my head that immediately started to turn the (at the time) undersized rudder on the ship of my lifeβs journey towards who I know myself to be. I felt it even with those small tweaks - a βclickβ in place that was just a very clear ripple of positive movement that told me βthis is the way.β I just knew this was going to be worthwhile even if only for the recognition that the ship was turning.
Cory and I have been working for 4 months and the first few months and weeks were intensive and highly engaging. He got me reading,β meditation, doing daily writing exercises and altering my internal and external environments in small ways - the result was making things in my actual life visible and legible and impossible to miss, whether good or less good. This helped pull back the deeper layers or skeletons in the closet and where they were making themselves apparent that i was not able to understand before.
Particularly impactful for me was working through my values inside and out, up and down. Iβd done values exercises before, many times actually, but the body of work and substance around it this time was markedly different. And it ignited my intuition. And I began to trust myself. And my habits did change. And new things brought joy to my life. And I followed through on big decisions. Even (and especially for me) ones that meant saying No to more things in life to make room for all the better things I wanted to make room for. And some of those were things I never believed I could or would do. Aspirational things that now feel possible and achievable if I choose to do them. And I realized the only thing holding me back was my capacity to dream and trust in myself.
Cory3wing has been - quintessentially - an exceptional facilitator of a pivotal chapter in my own self-led journey. And for me it was because he struck the right the balance in listening and teaching. Doing as i requested in being a professional servicer provider and then also offering what I needed even when I didnβt know to ask by also being an advisor, witness, teacher, and friend. He never read over my shoulder. He didnβt call me every night to chide me for what I didnβt do. He didnβt give me grades. He showed up for me with his whole compendium and listened deeply for which tidbit to put before me and never brought a shred of doubt into the room. He gave me tools that I could easily, intuitively use to find the gems of wisdom from within the wreckage piles of my own life. He offered a consistent, honest call and response to my own inquiry and story - witnessed it as unique, beautiful and worthy of itβs own space but still part of the grand story of the human condition. He was able to say honest hard things and give me feedback with clarity, compassion, and accuracy without being trite, condescending or contrived.
And one thing I appreciated so much was that he could acknowledge when I was backsliding mentally or otherwise even when I didnβt notice it - like we were hiking high up on a ridge line and he saw me walking just a little too close to the cliffs edge and instead of grabbing my arm he just said βhey, look where your foot is.β And through these types of engagements and a lot of my own time with the homework I didβ¦I have reconnected with my highest self and have been doing the work to clear the clutter in the way of being that person 100% of the time.
It was not simple and some days didnβt feel easy, and there were some big Aha moments that presented me with the option to turn back. And fortunately I moved through it. And I know I couldnβt have done this alone although now I have the tools to do so as I choose.
Since Cory and I started working together I have changed and followed through on things that at the beginning I believed would take me 2-4 years to do. I have taken a new job offering me better quality of life in a new state, turned my old job into money on demand with a new part-time contract with my former employer so Iβm making more money. I have preserved and enriched every peer and client relationship. I bought an RV and am going full nomad to take a tour of the country and start a creative podcast Iβve been wanting to launch for years. I quit cigarettes, got off meds (which was a personal choice and one I made with my doctors), have removed 90% of the stimulants in my life even in the mornings, Iβm fitter and stronger and laugh more deeply than I have in years. My family and friend relationships are fuller and richer. And oneβs that needed letting go of did without animosity. Iβm so damned in love with the delicious life Iβm building. And even the one I left behind is a story Iβm rewriting with so much love for the versions of myself that loved me enough to carry around some heavy, hard things not knowing they could just stop, put it down, forgive and move forward. I love that story for every tear of joy and pain in it.
I canβt emphasize enough how much Cory3wing meant to me in these months and the gratitude I have for this partnership effort. It wasnβt βeasyβ every moment, but it was and still is full to the brim with joy. I know he will continue to be woven into my life as needed in the future but the whole purpose of this, which he honored, was to arrive here as a self-determined pro creator of my own life. And here I am.
Thank you, Cory.
Itβs good to be home.
From the very first time I met Cory I knew he was an exceptional person.
Aside from coaching, Cory as an individual is extremely unique in his view of the world, his calming yet invigorating energy and commitment to add value to the lives of others.
Cory has a very special gift of taking his coaching clients on a journey through deep conversations and visualization. Which allows his clients to imagine - something that most of us as adults have not done in a very long time.
He has the ability to paint an extremely vivid picture in one's mind which actually feels as if you are being transported to that place which then ignites the emotions that literally carry you along this cosmic journey with him.
He has mastered this skill both in 1 on 1 coaching and in group coaching scenarios. I have had the honor of experiencing this in both settings and both were extremely powerful. Everyone in the group concurred. I truly believe that by utilizing this skill the way he does he has the ability to take his clients back to a space and time where trauma may have occurred or something that was unresolved and give them the opportunity to remove the block, see things in a different light or even reframe the incident altogether - ultimately changing how feelings and emotions around the incident show up in our life, which then changes how we show up for ourselves and in the world. (This was definitely my experience when we had our session)
This is a skill that is much needed in today's society as many people have a fixed mindset about their life, their circumstances and the world. This allows them to dream again, giving them hope for the future - something we all need.
I am also extremely impressed with the way that Cory can coach a group no matter how big or small ( I have witnessed him do this in both large and small groups) but he many times uses the Circle Way technique and in doing so ensures that everyone's voice is heard, everyone feels extremely seen and most of all safe. He has a warm way of welcoming his clients into his non judgmental space. I am sure Cory has never met a stranger.
In closing I would like to say that I am so honored to have Cory in my life as a mentor, a coach and now a friend. It is not often that you cross paths with such a beautiful soul and I consider myself blessed to have met him.
Looking forward to all of the great things to come with Cory and his practice!

Cory Thorell has changed my life and helped me rid years of shame that years of personal therapy did not provide. I have been reading books, attending workshops, personal therapy for years, etc. for over 50 years. I experienced this cosmic shift in the first week of our sessions,
Cory, has my full attention today. This personal commitment is because of the incredible value each and every session has had for me.
Cory consistently models the professional foundations of coaching while still applying warmth, presence, incredible reframing and exquisite listening skills that sets him apart from most people.
Whatβs most unique about Cory in my perspective, is his artistically cosmic approach in applying the super consciousness to personal and present reality. This mind expansion is priceless. Once mind perspective expands a new personal reality exists.
Another great gift Cory offers CLC is how quickly he is and has generated his following! Iβve watched from the beginning with less than 15 people to a current number of people over 225 today. People are joining his tribe everyday because the word is out. Cory is amazing!
Cory is a breath of fresh air. A genuine, a giving soul here to help the world heal one person at a time.
The world is in need of Coryβs special gifts and talents!!
I am pleased to share with you that you have a unique gift of wordsmithing and coming up with βoff the cuffβ analogies that so perfectly fit the subject matter of your intention. You are able to keep your audience spellbound with the way you can dance around words of wisdom and weave empathy into the fabric of your discussions. Cory your creative process appears seamless and your dedication to coaching for change in the world is admirable. You have provided a portal for me to grow spiritually and you have gathered a tribe for us to grow mutually as the ONE I have learned we have become part of. I am so grateful for all that you have given me in creating such a sacred place for us to gather, share and learn from each other. You have essentially created Ubuntu = Β« humanity Β» OR Β« I AM BECAUSE WE ARE Β» and this my friend is such a gift that you give from your heart and soul to the world
Cory's delivery is well thought out and organized.
He is very present when others are talking and he has a knack for pulling people out of their story telling and back to the question or request at hand.
Very positive. Cory avoids getting into others' stories. He maintains a beautiful, inclusive, safe group container for open sharing.
Cory's gift is on mindset and word-smithing peoples' vocabulary to fit with their desired goals.
His approach is very heart-centered.
Cory's unique gift is his love of people, his commitment to helping them, his willingness to share information and insights and his ability to communicate concepts and ideas in a manner which engages listeners and imbeds the material in their psyches.
Cory is seeking to make colleagues better coaches by helping to educate them on the human journey and conditions and addressing the pain points of inadequacy and resistance in his clients.
Cory's 1-1 and group coaching skills are excellent.
His superpower is the range of skills and knowledge which he possess about the human condition.
Cory is kind, thoughtful, loves people, and is a consummate coach.
Blessings!
Cory's unique skill is creating an environment where the client feels unique, special and he actually likes them.
Because of his energy of being intensely interested/invested in my future I have been able to grow my in my confidence.
My pain point was being stuck in my disbelief in myself.
Now Iβve reclaimed my power. Thank you
As your client, in one on one sessions and in group sessions moderated by you, I feel your superpower is your amazing ability to "see" and "feel" the person in front of you with clarity and to elevate them to a higher consciousness!
I can never forget, when I was a mess emotionally, & felt lost, the first person that came to my mind was Cory. I just felt that Cory would definitely help me get through this, that he would understand my complex emotions, not because of his background of an already established coach, but I just felt it in my heart.
Cory radiates so much love, compassion and kindness. I feel I can trust him, as a friend, as a coach, as a mentor. He makes people feel safe and good about themselves. He accepts people exactly as who they are. And his skills as a coach help you do that too. The vivid visualization technique Cory does, the healing of energy, the dive into power of the mind and consciousness, its something very helpful and relatable.
In group coaching too, the way Cory shares his wisdom and shines his light, the way he allows, gives space and respect to everyone's thoughts and opinions individually, still connecting everyone and taking them together on this journey is so inspiring. Cory's unique skills would be his soothing voice, calm demeanor and ever smiling face. Also, his technique of creative visualization and "anchoring" is very unique.
Over a period of time, Iβve seen more refinement in the way Cory holds group sessions, more in depth knowledge and a better control over the sessions. He appears very relatable and familiar, with deep empathy and understanding of others.
I feel privileged to have connected with Coach Cory Thorell.
Cory is a warm, kind, and compassionate leader.
As a coach, he asks powerful questions that allow the client to provoke possibilities previously unseen.
As a mentor, Cory delivers invaluable tools and programs, allowing his clients to upgrade their skills, lives, and the lives of those around them.
As a 1 on 1 Life Coach, Cory can take you on a journey, past, present and future, to provide clear answers through insight, intuition, and awareness.
Whether itβs a rapid recode from the magnetic mind or the 6 phase meditation from MindValley, Cory has been certified in both.
Cory is also certified in group coaching, where there is nothing more sacred and unique than The Circle Way. As a Circle Way facilitator with decades of experience, Cory can lead small or large groups in personal or corporate settings and still maintain the intimate connection that allows bold bravery and courageous action.
Whether itβs one on one or group coaching, Cory always provides a safe container for exploration that includes. The container consists of compassion, grace, and empathy, qualities only mirrored by the dreams, goals, and successes he wants for his clients If your looking for a great coach your search is over. Thank you Cory.

I want to share with youβ¦. I just had the most powerful coaching session I ever had with Cory as my Coach!
I came with a feeling of fear⦠and he taught me about FEAR as a False Evidence Appearing Real. It is just inside our minds! I now came out of our session feeling completely relieved of that feeling... replacing it with openness and joy and feeling protected and filled with love⦠eager to look deeper into what I need to know.
I know have an anchor of lightness and of joy to which I can access though a shortcut whenever I need it.
I leave this session with a thankful heart, thankful to life! For putting such a wonderful, wise, resourceful, intuitive, loving person in my learning path.
